Privacy Policy for the Cutting Edge Viber Community


1. Introduction

This Privacy Policy is issued by Cutting Edge in compliance with the Data Privacy Act of 2012 (Republic Act No. 10173), its Implementing Rules and Regulations, and other applicable laws. It governs the manner by which we collect, process, store, and protect the personal data of individuals who join the Cutting Edge Viber Community (“Community”).

By voluntarily joining and remaining in the Community, you signify your understanding of and consent to the data processing activities described herein.

2. Personal Data Collected

The Community is a read-only announcement channel. As such, Cutting Edge does not directly solicit personal information. We only have access to data that is automatically provided by the Viber platform to community administrators, such as:

  • Viber display name
  • Profile photo (if publicly visible)
  • Viber user ID or platform-generated identifiers
  • Other information you have chosen to make public within Viber

No additional personal data is collected outside the Viber system.

3. Legal Basis for Processing

Cutting Edge processes personal data strictly in accordance with the lawful criteria for processing under the Data Privacy Act:

a. Consent (Sec. 3, Sec. 12(a), DPA)

Your decision to join the Community constitutes your informed and voluntary consent to receive announcements and to allow Cutting Edge to view the limited profile information visible through Viber.

b. Legitimate Interest (Sec. 12(f), DPA)

We process member information to administer the Community, ensure its proper operation, and communicate legitimate business announcements. These interests do not override your fundamental rights and freedoms.

c. Compliance with Legal Obligations

Cutting Edge may process or disclose personal data as may be required by applicable laws, lawful orders, or regulatory authorities.

4. Purpose of Processing

Personal data accessible through Viber is processed solely for the following purposes:

  1. Delivery of announcements, advisories, and promotional updates
  2. Administration and management of Community membership
  3. Prevention of spam, abuse, fraud, and unauthorized access
  4. Enforcement of Community rules and compliance with Viber’s platform policies

Cutting Edge does not use your information for profiling, automated decision-making, or marketing outside the Community without separate consent.

5. Data Sharing and Disclosure

Cutting Edge shall not sell, transfer, or disclose personal data to third parties except in the following instances:

  1. Compliance with legal process, court orders, or lawful directives
  2. Protection of Cutting Edge’s rights, property, and legitimate interests

We do not publish or distribute member lists.

Cutting Edge implements reasonable and appropriate organizational, physical, and technical security measures to safeguard the limited personal data accessible to us. However:

  • Cutting Edge does not control Viber’s internal data practices
  • The security of your information ultimately depends on Viber’s own safeguards
  • Absolute security cannot be guaranteed due to inherent risks in digital communication

Members are encouraged to manage their Viber privacy settings responsibly.

7. Data Retention

We retain access to your profile information only for as long as you remain a member of the Community.

  • When you leave the Community:
  • Your profile ceases to be visible to administrators

Cutting Edge does not retain or store copies of your personal data outside the Viber platform

8. Your Rights as a Data Subject

In accordance with the Data Privacy Act, you are entitled to the following rights:

  • Right to be informed
  • Right to access information visible through the platform
  • Right to object or withdraw consent by leaving the Community
  • Right to correct or update your Viber profile
  • Right to erasure (to the extent applicable within Viber)
  • Right to file a complaint before the National Privacy Commission (NPC)

9. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent allowed by law, Cutting Edge shall not be liable for:

  • Any breach, incident, or security compromise occurring within the Viber platform, which is outside our control
  • Unauthorized access resulting from negligence, device compromise, or improper security practices of the user
  • Acts or omissions of third parties not under Cutting Edge’s supervision or authority

Your continued use of Viber remains governed by Viber’s Terms of Service and Privacy Policy, which are separate and independent from Cutting Edge.

10. Amendments

Cutting Edge reserves the right to amend or update this Privacy Policy at any time. Changes shall take effect upon posting. Continued membership in the Community constitutes acceptance of such amendments.
